Vegas – Munich

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

Unfortunately I did not have much luck with my trip to Munich. Technical problems in Vegas made me miss my connecting flight in Minneapolis and I had to take a new route via London.

Of course I used the waiting times in Minneapolis and London for shooting. This way I got to attend an Elvis contest in the Mall of America, America’s largest mall.

In London I had a longer stay as well and made this into a nice daytrip!

Las Vegas: Seminar at Jean Dry Lake

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Hundrets of the world’s best wedding shooters had gathered in the middle of the desert. At Jean Dry Lake, a dried out desert lake John Michael Cooper of altf and David Beckstead hold a bridal shoot seminar themed “Fast Cars and Sunglasses”.

They both are amongst the world’s leading shooters, John might be considered the most creative and far out wedding photographer to date. The week before I had the pleasure of photographing Patricia & Steve’s wedding with John.

David is one of the great masters of composition with an incredibly lyrical and emotional style.

Beside the fantastic desert panorama there was a beautiful 1966 Ford Thunderbird convertible.
When the sun went down, accompanied by a light sandstorm it produced an ambience that cannot be described with words. Priceless light!

I also used the opportunity of shooting the photographers Jennifer Skog und Angelica Glass in their Ford Mustang.

My good friend Angelica can be considered as one of the most talented wedding photographers out there. Together with her I already photographed the wedding of Anna & Dominic in November 2006.

Las Vegas: Bridal Shoot on the Strip

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

When you are in Las Vegas as a wedding photographer, then you can’t leave without doing bridal portraits on the Strip!

For the ongoing photographer’s convention we got together with friends, colleagues and assistants to shoot in one of the hottest locations.

While the sun slowly went down and Vegas’ lights went on, we made our way down the Strip and stopped wherever we found great places to shoot.

San Diego: Laura & Matt

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

San Diego is a beautiful city. Paradise on the West Coast.

Laura und Matts wedding took place at the Prado in San Diego’s Balboa Park. A grand location with old 17th cenrtury buildings. The Prado too is part of one of these building complexes which were built back in 1650.

A wedding Las Vegas style: Getting ready at the MGM Grand.

0022-01.jpg

As usual the guys were completely ready when I got there. Guys, it’s the getting ready I want to take pictures of. And not being ready!

This was a jewish-filipino wedding. It got pretty turbulent when it turned out that the limo service had scheduled the wrong day: no limo!
I offered Dave a ride which got him even a better entry than the limo: my car was bright yellow! This reception was at the beautiful Cili Club.

Las Vegas: Patricia & Steve

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

After arriving at summer temperatures in Las Vegas, I started out the very next day.
The reception was at the Cili Club, a beautiful Club with a tropic ambience and a golf course.  Table settings and cake were in tune with this special day: St. Patrick’s day!

The mood was great and an elderly gentleman catching the bouquet got some big laughs.

It was a pleasure to photograph this wedding for and with altf. altf is John Michael Cooper and his wife Dalisa, who are amongst the most creative, far out and sought after wedding photographers on this planet.

On March 16 I will  be heading to the West Coast again! Las Vegas and California are on my list for two exciting weeks. Of course I will supply you with news on the GG-Blog.

Guys & colors

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

Color has been a recent topic, but it’s hot for the guys too! You’d say that the guys are banned to black & white—or all white maybe.

But that’s not true. Wear a colored shirt and everything is different. I found a great example at a wedding one of our colleague Chuck Arlund did: a bright red shirt! This look not only is extravagant, I like most that the groom really sticks out of the crowd: today HE is the star!
