Kelli & Robbie – Go Conolly!

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Kelli & Robbie are getting married in California. But they live in the South and decided to have their engagement photos done in Charlotte, because it’s sooo much nicer here (JK!!). This Sunday was engagement session craze anyway (3 in a row …) so I was warmed up and ready.

These two are amazing! They turned every little spot in the Queen City into an ad-worthy location. And the light was just awesome—you couldn’t ask for any better.

Stopping in front of Conolly’s on 5th, an Irish pub was a must: Conolly is Robbie’s last name. I want a restaurant with my name too!!

Jessica & Seth – A Tux for every Dress

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

What do you get if you put a hot looking couple, several awesome dresses, a tux and some great locations together? Well, see for yourself!

I do encourage couples to bring stuff for at least one change of clothes. For this session Jessica took it pretty seriously: she brought so many different dresses, shoes and jewelry that we had to engage one of the luggage trolleys! Seth said: “I have an outfit for each and every of her dresses” – and put on his tux … Go Seth!

Jessica’s mom was there to help with everything and we appointed her Chief Stylist. The couple was so sparkling and natural in front of the camera what a fun shoot!

Annabet & Jay – out on the Plantation

Friday, February 6th, 2009

Annabet visited me at our Bridal Showcase booth where she also told me that Jay really likes the outdoors. So we planned on an engagement shoot at one of the really amazing outdoors places, not much more than 25 minutes from Charlotte: The Historic Latta Plantation in Huntersville, NC. It is right by the Mountain Island Lake and definitely worth a visit!

When I got there I wanted to give Annabet a call and I didn’t trust my eyes when all the cell phone entries starting with “A” were gone ! Fortunately we ran into each other right after that, and we went taking photos right away.

It was chilly and windy but the two of them were brave. After all Annabet and Jay both love Triathlon—I take my hat off to that, it’s really nothing for the faint of heart and they are both in such great shape!

Last, we jumped some fences to get closer to the historic house and a beautiful old barn. We eventually got chased away since it was not yet opened for visitors, but it was all worth it!

Molly & Marshal – Disco & Alley

Saturday, December 6th, 2008

When somebody tells me “we like photos with architecture in them”—I’m game!! It’s the icing on the cake.

Molly and Marshal wanted that, and some urban flair. And they are one of the couples where you just can’t take a bad picture of. We started out at the Blake Hotel which is just so cool! Then we went downtown where we found this narrow alley with the most amazing light. Downtown’s just a playground for great pictures.

And yes, we took a photo with the Disk (real name: “Il Grande Disco” by Arnaldo Pomodoro)—maybe a bit different than usual.

Do we worry about dreary skies? Heck, no! We had such a great time!

Stephanie & Tyler – From Ohio to North Carolina to Maryland

Friday, November 28th, 2008

These two are on their way! While living in Ohio, Stephanie had to move to Charlotte for job reasons. Tyler didn’t want to let her go like that – and proposed to Stephanie!

Now Tyler came to Charlotte for their engagement photos and we went on the LYNX train and around downtown to take pictures wherever we landed. They are so much fun and have a blast coming up with crazy nicknames for each other…

Stephanie and Tyler will get married in Charlotte, but their next station is already planned: Maryland, where Tyler will go to grad school and get his masters in social work.

Ashley & John – Mountains & a Park

Friday, November 28th, 2008

John proposed to Ashley in the mountains. What was supposed to be a sunny day turned out to be rainy and John had to revise his plans. So back at the car he put their camera on self-timer and asked Ashley to close her eyes …

This lovely couple is heading far, both soon graduate at USC, Ashley majors in Elementary Education and John is double majoring in Finance and Real Estate.

They definitely have a love for the outdoors so we went to Freedom Park and this time it was the other way round: a gray and dark day turned into a mild and sunny afternoon!

Adrienne & Martin – Treadmills & Cigars

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Adrienne and Martin’s engagement session was a so much fun, going from Freedom Park to the Westin Hotel and then to a spot where we could see the City skyline (and where it was freezing cold …).
When I met Adrienne again for her bridal portrait I almost didn’t recognize her she was so elegant!

Finally it was their wedding day and it was a special treat for me since there were so many Germans there!
It was a beautiful ceremony at the Great Aunt Stella Center with a remarkable movie kiss, followed by a fun reception at the Renaissance SouthPark. This place is a playground for taking great photos and even the gym with its treadmills served us well!

Jessica & Mike – Manhattan Engagement Session

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

When we met Jessica and Mike we fell in love with them immediately! They are the nicest couple ever. Both are totally into photography (which makes me very happy!) and they are easy going and super romantic.
In our usual manner, we didn’t make it far – so many great places to take photos at! Well, no wonder Manhattan is one of our favorite. We had an awesome time with the two and can’t wait to photograph their wedding next June!
