Off on our Honeymoon

March 22nd, 2010

Two years late, Critsey and I are now finally off to our honeymoon. We will be heading to Germany and then to Rome. I know Rome like the back of my hand but for Critsey it will be her first time there. I am so excited to show her one of my all time favorite cities. Not even talking about the food! ;)

We are also very excited about taking the night train from Munich to Rome with our own little cabin in a sleeping coach. Weather forecast for Munich and Rome looks pretty good which makes it easier to leave the beautiful spring in NC.

No worries, we’re taking cameras. So look forward to some images!

You can reach us again on April 2nd.
Enjoy the spring!

Tamela + Thomas – Handsome by Nature

March 9th, 2010

What happens when you put a gorgeous looking couple in an outstanding place like Charlotte’s Westin Hotel? Awesome looking pictures! An easy job for the photographer – just press the shutter.
Just kidding.
However, I have to say that I am so blessed by being able to photograph beautiful people all the time. And Tamela and Thomas are no exception here. They were absolutely natural posers! Everything fell in place and they had that … aesthetic look. And look at that cool red armchair! We love it! It’s part of some new furniture they have at the Westin and they did a great job there.
I have a feeling that T+T’s wedding will be remarkable.

Molly + Marshal: they’re back!

March 5th, 2010

I just love when we do the whole package: engagement photos, bridal portrait, wedding , Day After Session … Why would you not want it all? ;-)

Everything we did so far with Molly and Marshal was spectacular. Their engagement shoot, Molly’s bridal portrait, their wedding and now this awesome Day After Session at the Orchard House!

This is my second time shooting portraits there and I can tell you – it’s a stunning place. So charming and genuine. And the girls at the Orchard House are so nice! If you consider a wedding in a venue like that, definitely check it out!

Heather + Jonathan – Southern Elegance

February 18th, 2010

Since I relocated to Charlotte, I learned to see and love this special kind of elegance that you only find here in the South. Heather and Jonathan are an extremely handsome couple and their engagement session portrayed exactly this kind of elegance.

What other location could be as grand as the Duke Mansion for this? We are so excited that they started doing weddings now! And not to forget: Jonathan also is an extremely talented designer at The Place for Flowers!

This all is very promising for their wedding!

Manika & Richard – East, West, Love!

January 5th, 2010

A 2009 highlight. Absolutely!

Richard’s family is from Italy, Manika’s from India, they had a ceremony in Rome and then a few weeks later a Hindu ceremony at the Westin in Charlotte.

The day before the Mendhi ceremony (that is when the henna paintings are applied) took place at the Renaissance Suites Hotel.

Manika was just the sweetest bride and at the evening of the Mendhi ceremony we were stunned by her beauty. But we had no idea what we’d witness the next day, she was so gorgeous and radiating! There were many of the guests in the traditional attire, Richard looked extremely handsome in it.

The dancing was one of the big highlights, and the lighting in the reception room complemented is extremely well. Oh, yes, and the food … certainly awesome!

Cody & Aaron – Back in Time

January 4th, 2010

A Halloween wedding! We were hoping it would be cool, but it was way cool! Cody and Aaron had not planned for just some masquerade – their theme was Roaring 20s Flapper Style! They had hoped that at least some of the guests would show up that way but really: virtually everybody came according to the theme. Even the minister showed up in a tailcoat! That’s what I call dedication!

And you just gotta love their details. A bouquet made of buttons! Cool shoes everywhere! And Cody just looked gorgeous. (Yes, yes, Aaron looked just as swank!) To top it off they had a Ford Model T as their car!

Their moving ceremony was at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church and the reception at the Wadsworth House, a hidden jewel here in Charlotte. The party got pretty hot and a dance instructor helped everybody to get the 20s moves. A lot of fun came from a Polaroid camera (I lurve Polaroid!), mostly operated by the most charming and cutest little guest. Severe competition for our photo booth – however, in the end I have to declare the booth the winner, the images from that were just too hilarious!

Catering: Best Impressions Caterers
Cake: Dale Richardson (704) 321-1621
Flowers: Elizabeth House Flowers (704) 342-3920
Band: Dailey Soul

Want to be blown away?

December 30th, 2009

I rarely post other than photography related things, but I wanted you to see this. If anything is amazing, this is it.

Kseniya Simonova is an Ukrainian artist who recently won a talent show there with her beautiful sand paintings. Enjoy!

Sarah & Scott – Red Wine and Golden Light

December 28th, 2009

While it’s cold outside, this engagement session will bring you the warm golden light of Fall!
When Sarah and Scott arrived at our house to meet up for their engagement pictures, they brought us a bottle of wonderful Valpolicella! We soon went out and bought a few more. It was so good. Thank you so much, guys!

We headed out towards the countryside on a stunning Fall afternoon – one of those where the light is just magic. We pulled over whenever we saw some nice spots and there were plenty. Finally we rounded up the shoot with some elegant pictures at a restaurant and downloaded the images right when we got back – we were so impatient. Wow what gorgeous couple! They pulled it off like it was second nature.

I can’t wait for their wedding at the Renaissance SouthPark in May!!
